The source of this present Sonata in F major by Johann Friedrich Fasch is a contemporary copy of parts kept by the Sächsische Landesbibliothek in Dresden under shelfmark Mus. 2423-Q-5. The separate title page, with the incipit of the Largo's theme in the 1st oboe, is strangely marked: 'Schranck No: II. / 9. Fach 15. Lage. / No: 4: Trio / co VVni Oboi, Viola, / e Basso./ 4 St: / del Sigr. Fasch / [Incipit]'. Yet the individual parts, beside 'Sonata', are respectively headed 'Oboe Primo', 'Oboe secondo', 'Bassone' and 'Cembalo'. The Basso part is unfigured. The copyist's copy is most carefully done, with matching articulations and expression marks.
