"Peter and the Wolf" is a story about the victory of a weaker power over a seemingly insurmountable superior strength through clever trickery. Young Peter, who lives with his grandfather somewhere out there in the Russian taiga, would never, of course, have had a chance against the hungry wolf who roams the forests and does not stop short of human settlements. One day, Peter goes out into the garden in front of the house without his grandfather's permission. He witnesses how the little bird, the cat and the duck are pestered by the wolf, who has suddenly appeared. The encounter has a fatal outcome for the duck, which is why Peter decides to catch the wolf by means of a trick. First he climbs a tree and ties a noose. The bold bird lures the wolf into the trap. Then the hunters arrive, shooting about indiscriminately. But Peter calls out to them to stop shooting, for he has already long since caught the wolf. Peter leads the captured animal to the zoo - proudly but much to the indignation of his grandfather, who cannot forget the severe consequences of the incident had Peter's idea failed.
