Carl Czerny (1791-1857), the viennese composer and pianist, produced a remarkable number of scores, especially for piano. Czerny himself divided his music into four categories : exercises, easy music for beginners, brilliant music for recitals, and serious music. The complete nocturnes that we propose in this edition, can be classified in the last two categories. They are composed between 1831 and 1845. This nocturnes, full of charm and depth, characteristic of the writing of the time, have influenced the composers of the XIXth century. We forget this aspect of Carl Czerny. Isabelle Oehmichen recorded the opus 368, 604 and 647 on the CD of éditions Hortus (Hortus074)
