The suggestive title The La Forêt enchantée [The Magic Forest] came to mind by chance and the subtitles spontaneously followed : 1. Par un matin [by one morning] 2. Dans le lointain, elfes et lutins [In the distance: elfs and goblins] 3. Les heures heureuses [The Happy Hours]. I donÆt know precisely why I wanted to propose a fairy-like world: was it due to the harp sounds? or was it a personal need? The first movement depicts the scenery: a forest on a quiet morning, but in the middle of the movement some mysterious signs are beginning to appear . The second movement provides confirmation: elfs and goblins gather together excitedly and intervene, one after the other.
