Going on a holiday usually creates a certain kind of excitement. A few days or weeks away from the office, the daily grind and banal obligations is something we are all looking forward to. There are fond memories of the fun, adventure and joy when looking back later at our vacation. “Holiday for Flutes” is a collection of short pieces written with this attitude in mind. As the humorous titles suggest, it’s all about fun. Some of them contain jazz inspired phrases and idioms. Others use classical counterpoints and minimalism with a touch of bebop or country music. They don’t need to be played necessarily in order. Even as encores they hopefully delight and surprise the audience and are enjoyed by the performers as well.
