The young composer Benjamin Schweitzer challenges players and listeners again and again to let themselves in for unusual sounds and complicated rhythms. The split nature of Hölderlin's late poetry between harmony, crazy outbursts and reserved smoothness can be found in this concentrated composition in which the fragile colours of flute and piano, eruptive escalations and precisely elaborated lines and motifs are combined. This is a very early composition by Schweitzer which he developed and improved further for publication.
