Zulema de la Cruz (1958) of Madrid, whose catalogue is noteworthy, finds inspiration for her Evocación in Rossini's Fantasie in EB. Thanks to her skilful compositional technique, the Rossini themes sometimes take on a semblance of her own, contemporary language. In this way De la Cruz demonstrates her versatility and her solid craft, constructing a homogeneous and respectful perspective on the work of the Italian maestro, at times approaching variation form. Within the tripartite structure of ther piece, the piano and clarinet dialogue as equals, the work culminating with a recapitulation of exuberant character.
