These cheerful, lively duets for double basses are a contribution to low-level playing literature and at the same time a good possibility to liven up double bass lessons. Nine popular American traditional melodies have been arranged with the upper part never exceeding the 6th position. In some cases, the lower part is a bit more demanding. The pieces are short, well playable, and they are especially suitable for performances and encores. It is as well possible to use different instruments than double basses, for example violoncellos, bassoons, trombones. Dynamics and tempo are left to the fantasy of the interpreter. Metronome markings are only suggestions.
