Kiki Sanchez was born and raised in Lima, Peru, where he started playing the piano professionally at the age of 11. In Lima he studied piano with Coco Macedo and Edermi Chavez. In America he studied with Jim Gasior at MDC, Mike Orta at FIU and David Hammer at FAU. He studied Jazz Theory with Dr. Mike DiLiddo at MDC and Jazz Arranging with Dr. Tim Walters at FAU. In Miami, Kiki is an active producer, arranger, studio musician and performer. One of Sanchez' dreams is to share all his years of experience, research and discovery of Latin Music with other musicians. Sanchez, together with the music producer Kimberly Chmura, had the wonderful idea to produce this video that would expose and teach the basics of Latin music to other musicians. Sanchez' vision is to expand your musical abilities and have a better understanding about how to play several Latin rhythms on the piano. These not only will help you with your piano abilities, but will enrich your musical knowledge as a producer, arranger and educator. In this video Kiki introduces a rhythm from his native Peru called The Peruvian Festejo. As an educator, Kiki has been working with Dr. Donna Goldstein on the Latin America Live musical journey, teaching the music and the different cultures of Latin America in several public schools and colleges in the South Florida area.
