Switch on to Jazz is a collection of instrumental solos with piano accompaniment written as fun pieces for students to play between their (Associated Board) examinations. The pieces, which have plenty of rhythmic challenges, are fun to play and easy to listen to and are ideal as concert items. They are written in a variety of popular styles including rock, swing, Klezmer, ballad, pop, calypso, etc. The live piano accompaniment on the CD helps you to practise but of course you will learn most from the musical interaction that occurs when you play together with a real pianist. Each piece stands on its own but performers may choose to present a group of two or three together to make a suite of pieces.
