Da es relativ wenige barocke Werke für die Sopran-Blockflöte gibt, dürfte diese Sonate Boismortiers bei Spielern und Lehrern auf besonderes Interesse stossen. Im 1730 erschienenen Pariser Erstdruck sind Kompositionen für verschiedene Melodieinstrumente (Querflöte, Blockflöte, Oboe, Drehleier, Dudelsack) enthalten, von denen sich die ursprünglich in G-Dur stehende Sonate besonders gut für die Sopran-Blockflöte eignet. Sie wurde ohne die geringste Veränderung für die Sopran-Blockflöte (oder Tenor-Blockflöe) nach D-Dur transponiert. Ein dankbares Stück für Konzert und Unterricht.
As there are only relatively few baroque works for descant recorder, this sonata by Boismortier should attract the interest of both players and teachers. The first edition published in Paris in 1730 contained compositions for various melodic instruments (flute, recorder, oboe, hurdy-gurdy, bagpipe) among which the Sonata, originally written in G major, is particularly suited for descant recorder. Without the slightest change for the descant (or tenor) recorder, it was transposed to D major. A rewarding piece for concert performances and music lessons.
