Organ lovers everywhere commemorated the 250th anniversary of the death of Johann Gottfried Walther on 23 March 1998. Walther, who worked in Weimar as an organist alongside J. S. Bach, left an impressive compositional and theoretical oeuvre. We celebrated the "Walther" year on March 23rd. 1998 by launching Klaus Beckmann's new edition of Walther's organ works in four volumes. Its underlying concept and arrangement of the various volumes are not the only aspects distinguishing it from the previous edition, which was still based on Max Seiffert's research.
