Product description

'Play Klezmer!

'Play Klezmer! 'contains a selection of Yiddish party music-in which a smile and a tear are never too far apart. The word klezmer is a combination of the Hebrew words 'kele' (voice) and 'zemer' (instrument). Originally klezmer was played by the klezmorim, musicians who travelled through Eastern Europe absorbing elements from the local musical culture. Thus Klezmer became a melting pot of various musical styles. This music found its way to America, where it was at its height in the 1930s. In the 1970s klezmer music was rediscovered, af ter which it came back to Europe trom America. In this book, the beautiful klezmer music with its characteristic augmented seconds is combined with solo parts which are not too difficult. In most cases, dynamics and tempo are not to strictly fixed but there are certain guidelines. You can bring your own interpretation into play after all, this is what the klezmorin did. You can also use your technical skills to give a personal touch to the music. Listen to the Audiofiles, or play along to get into the right mood. You can use the Audiofiles that you can download or stream  for practice, but also to give compelling concert performances!
