'Picassienne' was commissioned by the 'Spanish Evenings Festival' and has been written for Rafaél Aguirre. It is seen with the eyes of a Picassian Cubist by means of a 'Malaguena', a Flamenco guitar dance from Málaga where both, Picasso and Aguirre, come from. A wide range of sonorities are shown in this extremely rhythmical piece. The whole length of the guitar strings are used, sometimes even without their connection to the resonance body, allowing the most intimate sounds on the guitar to produce. The piece also extensively uses harmonics, contrasting with the powerful energy of the instrument itself. Duration: 7 min.
