L'été is a moderate-paced composition with plenty of scope for the called-for rubato. Its texture is of a contrapuntal nature, the two lines weaving around each another producing at times, pleasing and genial sounds but now and again a darker more menacing atmosphere pervades.
As a contrast, La Galante is of a much 'softer' texture, quite romantic and very lyrical. For the majority of the time the notes fall nicely under the fingers and as a pairing these would be worth considering for the grade 6+ player seekingn some new, contemporary material.
