Written around 1825, the Divertimento op. 9 for oboe and string quartet is once again part of every chamber music loving oboist's repertoire. The demanding and expressive work is remarkable for its glowing lyricism. As the source for this edition we used the first printed parts (C. F. Peters, Leipzig, Pl. No. 1728; mistakenly described as op. '8' at the top of the first pages). There were no errors of notation in the source. Missing or inaccurately placed slurs, dynamics, crescendo forks and accents have been adjusted or completed by analogy. The first edition's title reads: DIVERTIMENTO / per l'Oboe / Con Accompagnamente di 2 Violini, Viola et Violoncello / composto / da / B. CRUSELL. / Op 9 / Propr. del Editore / Rth. 1. / Lipsia, Presso C. F. Peters.
