Yiaogang Ye, born in 1955, studied at the Central Conservatory of Music of China from 1978 till 1983. In 1982 he won the first prize at the Alexander Tcherepnin Composition Competition. In 1983, right after completing his studies, he was appointed composer-in-residence and became a teacher at the Central Conservatory of Music of China. From 1987 Xiaogang Ye studies at the Eastman School of Music of the University of Rochester in the USA. After taking his Master;s degree, he lived as a free-lance composer in Pittsburgh. From all over the world Yiaogang Ye has received numerous commissions to compose music. His works have been performed in East Asia, New Zealand, USA and Europe.
