The most important part of Lessel's concert output are works with the piano. Adagio et Rondeau à la Polonaise op. 9, had been written while he was studying under Haydn. This work is considered to be the prototype for the later Andante spianato and Grand Polonaise in E flat major, Op. 22 by Fryderyk Chopin. The works of Lessel, a Polish student of Józef Haydn, were highly appreciated by his contemporaries. Currently, his output is perceived as a continuation of the classical ideas of his Master and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.
