Arnau Bataller (1977) has focussed his compositional work in the audiovisual and film fields, and his Tre movimente alla Rossini (written at the request of the duo Fuster-Hernández) envolvers seamlessly though consonant and dissonant harmonies. In the slow first movement we get a glimpse of -Una voceà- which dissolves in lovely clarinet sonorities. A rhythmic section, introduced by a Rossini-like cadenza, characterizes the central movement. The third movement is informed by the initial quotation, and despite its technical exigencies, does not sacrifice a strong melodic content.
