The Three songs Combat del somni, for voice and piano, were written in 1993 for a concert in memory of her friend, the composer Frederic Mompou. Carlota Garriga set three poems by Josep Janés to music extracted from the compilation of this title from which Mompou had obtained the texts of some of his most well-known compositions. Nevertheless, the score avoids any thematic mention of Mompou's work. The premier took place at the Cultural Centre of Caja Madrid in Barcelona on June 16, 1993.The three Cançons populars catalanes are the last creative fruit of Carlota Garriga. They are harmonisations for voice and piano of Catalan songs of great melodic inspiration such as Mariagneta, the Cançó del lladre or L'Emigrant. The American pianist Mac McClure, a pupil and friend of Carlota Garriga, proposed the writing of these scores by suggesting the idea of an attractive piano accompaniment, of which they are a good example. The debut, performed by Mac McClure together with the soprano Rosa Mateu, gave the first performance in the Foment Theatre in Mataró on October 6, 2006, being performed later on in different Latin-American capitals.
