24 Studi da Caffè were born almost as a joke, as if to say... "I play classical and you answer jazz", seeking that understanding between the sacred and the profane that is sometimes difficult to find, but I must say that the experiment was a success. With my colleague Roberto Bertazzi, an excellent Jazz guitarist, we had fun putting together these 24 Studies for Transverse Flute called "da Caffè" because they are so short that they can be listened to while sipping a cup of coffee. The Flute part was created always considering the didactic aspect, aimed at a course of studies of medium difficulty and focusing more on the various articulations of the language than on the technique in general. It is important to remember that scales and arpeggios are fundamental before starting each study, for adequate preparation for the reference tones. Your teacher will be able to guide you on the choice of exercises. The use of the electric guitar (a Gibson 175, with a warm and typically jazz sound), the accompaniment and harmonization, make these studies particularly pleasant both to play and to listen to and therefore suitable to be played in any circumstance. The addition of the chord acronyms completes what has just been said, leaving the freedom of choice of the accompanying instrument. The book also contains the recording of the 24 Studies, both in the complete version (Flute and Guitar) and in the backing track version, accessible via QR Code. I hope you have fun! Mauro Scappini
